Dr. Dave Murphy

Good Afternoon,

This is Dave Murphy, MSAD 44 Superintendent of Schools and this is my Friday Update for June 11, 2021.

Congratulations to Telstar’s Class of 2021. They will be wrapping up a week’s worth of very successful events with tonight’s graduation ceremony which will take place at 7:00 pm. This is a ticketed event but it will be streamed live on WHAT TV, YouTube channels and Spectrum Channel 1302. The link to the event can be found on the Telstar web site. I hope you will join us for this special event.

I want to commend the members of this class for their outstanding efforts in tackling the many challenges that they have faced over the past year. Throughout it all, they have been resilient, versatile and committed to making this the best year possible and last night’s Coming Together gathering was a true indication of their success in that regard!

My thanks to the community for their overwhelming support of all five of the school referendum articles on the June 8 referendum. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to the coming year.

I wanted to remind folks that S.A.D. 44 will again be delivering meals this summer. Beginning on June 21, breakfast and lunch meals will be delivered twice weekly. On Monday, two days of food will be delivered, and on Wednesday, three days of meals will be delivered. These deliveries will continue through Wednesday, August 25th. Meals are available for all children 18 years of age and under who live in the district. These children are not required to be enrolled in the school district. If you would like to be added to the delivery list, please call your school’s office and let them know of your interest.

Meals will also be available for pickup at Telstar Middle/High School and Woodstock Elementary School. Meals will be available for pick up at those locations on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Finally, I also wanted to remind parents that the second COVID vaccine clinic will be held on Tuesday June 15 at Telstar. This clinic will be only for those students who received their first dose of the vaccine on May 25. Please note that it is very important to receive the second dose in order to be fully protected from the virus.

Best wishes for a terrific June weekend!
